Tiffany Peterson

As Retention & Enrollment Specialist and UMaineOnline Advisor, Tiffany researches, develops and implements proactive retention strategies and collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure students are on track to graduate and achieve their objectives at UMaine. Tiffany supports student success by tracking student progress and ensuring that students have someone to turn to when they are unsure of how to move forward in their pursuit of their academic and personal goals.

Tiffany is a graduate of Smith College with a bachelor’s degree in the Study of Women and Gender. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education through an online program at the University of Southern Maine. Before joining the UMaineOnline team, she worked at a community college where she served as Accessibility Specialist and TRIO Advisor to students from underserved backgrounds.

As a first generation college student, Tiffany encountered many of the challenges that other first-gen students face when trying to navigate the college process and access the necessary services to feel supported once she was enrolled. She helped create the First Generation Students Alliance at her alma mater and was actively involved in student government and served as President of the National Organization for Women – Campus Action Network. She was a member of the Bowdoin College Upward Bound program and credits the support she received throughout her time there as a reason for her academic success.
