Patricia A. Libby, LMSW
Patricia Libby is the Associate Dean of Online and Continuing Education. She provides leadership, strategic vision, and direction to all areas of the Division of Lifelong Learning.
Patricia’s leadership extends to new program development and all academic areas within the Division. She also oversees the Division’s academic affairs, including student support services and academic advising, marketing and communications, UMaineOnline undergraduate and graduate programs, Summer University, Winter Session, Early College, Travel Study, Degree Completion, Professional and Continuing Education, and other UMaine initiatives.
Patricia’s collaborative leadership is evident in her role as she works with leaders from across the University and System to manage year-round strategic scheduling efforts, grow UM’s online portfolio and enrollment, and recruitment. These efforts are designed to meet the needs of UMaine students and support UMaine’s student success and retention initiatives. She also collaborates with the Graduate School to enhance marketing, recruitment, enrollment, and retention across more than 50 online graduate programs.
Patricia’s professional journey is a testament to her versatility and adaptability. Her extensive experience spans various sectors, including business, community, education, and civic leadership. Before her current role as Associate Dean, she served as Assistant Dean of the Division of Lifelong Learning and Director of the Hutchinson Center. Her career also includes senior leadership positions in the business sector, including roles at a Fortune 500 company and in the automotive industry.
She served for over a decade as an elected official to the SAD 28 School Board, the Five-Town CSD School Board, the Mid-Coast School of Technology Board of Directors, and the Children’s House Montessori School Board of Directors. Recently, she served her community through her work with the Belfast Rotary Club, Belfast Creative Coalition, the Restorative Justice Project of Maine, the Penobscot Bay YMCA, and as a volunteer supporting midcoast youth programs. She is a graduate of the Maine Development Foundation’s Leadership Maine (Omega) Program and Midcoast Leadership Academy (MLA6). Patricia holds her licenses as a real estate agent, social worker, competitive swimming coach, and USA swimming official. She holds a terminal master’s degree (63 credits post-bachelor’s) in Social Work Practice from the University of Maine.
