Molly Schauffler, Ph.D.

Dr. Molly Schauffler coordinates science programing at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center and oversees the Center’s teaching laboratories. She is an Assistant Research Professor in the School of Earth and Climate Sciences with faculty appointments in the Center for Research in STEM Education and the Climate Change Institute where she serves as thesis advisor for pre-service teachers in the Master of Science in Teaching program.

Molly is interested in overlapping areas of environmental science and data literacy aspects of mathematics education, particularly how middle and high school students work with data to understand the earth’s systems and changing environment. She provides innovative professional development programs for STEM teachers throughout the year. Dr. Schauffler has a Ph.D. in Plant Science from the University of Maine, and has worked at UMaine since 1998 as an NSF post-doctoral fellow and assistant research professor.
