OSR Registration Checklist

Check registration dates.
Obtain Registration Authorization Number (RAN) before registering. For registration locations see Buildings and Rooms for Registration listing. Note: Non-degree undergraduate students do not need a RAN to register. Non-degree graduate students should contact the Graduate School to obtain a RAN.
Check for registration holds.
Verify PIN. (Be sure you know your DSIS/IVR PIN before you're scheduled to register.)

Select courses using the online Schedule of Classes.

  • Select your courses ahead of time and have second choices in case your first choices of courses are unavailable.

  • Refer to the comments area below the course title for each course for valuable information including:

    • If the location is other than the Orono campus such as the Frederick Hutchinson Center in Belfast. (Students interested in enrolling in courses at FHC should call the Center at 1-800-753-9044.)
    • If the course is distance education (i.e. asynchronous/web-based, interactive television (ITV)).
    • The general education requirements that are met by taking the course.
    • Restrictions for registration.
    • Special meeting times or dates.
  • Click on Course Description/Prerequisite link on the Schedule of Classes to view additional course information.
  • Courses that require instructor or special permission need to be added in the department of the course.
  • Some courses may have a max seating of zero. Contact the department offering the course to inquire about registration.
  • Use the prerequisite checker function in Web DSIS to see if you meet the prerequisites for the courses you've chosen.

Register:

Registration can be done using the telephone IVR (Interactive Voice Response) or Web DSIS (Distributed Student Information System) registration systems which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Using Web DSIS. NOTE: When using WebDSIS to register for classes, please turn off pop up blockers as this interferes with registering for some courses.
  • Register in person at your department or dean's office.
  • Using the IVR MAIN Line interactive voice response system at 207-581-MAIN(6246).
