Augusta City Hall

From Water Street, we turn left onto Bridge Street, cross the river again by way of the Father Curran Bridge, and head back to City Center. We have come full circle.

Today, many women hold civic positions in Augusta. Judith Johnson-Marsano, elected in the 1990’s, was the first woman to serve on the Augusta City Council. Among those serving or have served the city in 2001 and 2002 are City Councilors Donna R. Doore, Karen D. Foster, Sylvia V. Lund, Mary D. Mayo-Wescott, A. Delaine Nye, and Kimberly Davis, elected in November 2002. Women who serve or have served on the School Board include: Susan B. Campbell, Suzanne Allaire-Dowling, Kimberly Silsby, and Janet Radsky. Cherie Frith serves as Augusta’s City Clerk. She is responsible for keeping the official records of the town - births, deaths, marriages, as well as overseeing licenses and permits. Cornelia Brown is the School Superintendent.
