Water Street Artist's Studios

 

On Water Street there are a number of artists who have studios on upper floors of the buildings. The studios are not open to the public, therefore the specific addresses are not given, but the work of these artists can be seen in Central Maine galleries and businesses.

 

Nancy Jacob and Jane Burke are two contemporary artists with loft studios on Water Street. Nancy is a photographer, painter, writer, and performance artists, who was recently listed by the Maine Commission for the Arts on the –Maine Artist Roster."* Her performance persona, –Miss Liberty," appears in celebrations across the state. Nancy's work can be seen in area exhibits, most recently at Railroad Square Gallery in Waterville. Jane is a sculptor, decorative artist, and singer / songwriter. She has created decorative interiors all over the country. In Augusta, her work can be seen at the Senator Inn Health Spa. –Jane Loves Maine - Pop Tart," her recently released CD, features her latest songs. The Kennebec Valley Art Association, based in Hallowell, is the area art society.

It also serves as a major resource for the Artist in Communities and New England States Touring Program. Artists in any discipline may apply each year.
