Bachelor of University Studies

The Bachelor of University Studies (B.U.S.) is a University of Maine four-year degree that can accommodate the busy schedules of working adults. This part-time degree is individually planned, thus reflecting the important aspects of the student’s personal or professional goals.

The BUS degree does not duplicate or replicate any of the University of Maine's current programs of study, and it differs in two major respects from the traditional BA and BS degrees. First, it is offered only through the Continuing Education Division. Secondly, each student consults with an academic advisor to design an individualized program leading to the completion of the student's education goals.

With a carefully designed course of study, the BUS student may pursue a number of academic interests, thus ensuring a multidisciplinary education. This flexibility allows the student to prepare for a variety of career opportunities across many life situations.
