PROGRAMS TAILORED
TO YOUR BUSINESS OR
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

Throughout its 2007-2008 programming year, the staff of the Bureau of Labor Education can conduct programs on a broad spectrum of topics for: workers and their unions, students and educators, government officials, community organizations, and public policy makers throughout Maine. Each program will be designed to meet the organization’s specific labor education needs.

The Bureau regularly offers courses on:

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

ORGANIZING AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING IN A CHANGING ECONOMY

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY

WORKER AND UNION RIGHTS UNDER
EMPLOYMENT LAW

LABOR AND ECONOMIC ISSUES IN THE
GLOBAL ECONOMY.

Programs can be conducted at a location and schedule that are most convenient for participants. Contact our office for more information.

 

The Bureau of Labor Education is pleased to announce the award of a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The Susan Harwood Training Grant awarded to the Bureau , titled Recognizing and Preventing Hazards in Maine Construction, underwrites the production of a safety manual for construction workers, and the presentation of on-site safety programs throughout Maine. This program is sponsored by the Bureau along with the Maine Building & Construction Trades Council, Labor Education & Development of Maine (LEAD), and OSHA.

The Bureau recently closed out a prior OSHA safety grant for shipyards and boatyards. Over the course of the grant, over 500 Maine ship- and boat-yard employers and employees received on-site safety training and consultations.
